leg warmers & fallen leaves

Well how dee do. It's nippy here today - the kind of day where you wake up and first things first, put on a toque before even getting dressed, because it's so cold. Then you put on a bunch of layers that make you resemble a marshmallow (but being warm is worth forgoing style points), some cozy leg warmers, and the ultimate accessory-a piping hot cup of hot chocolate.

If you were to teleport to Oxford this instant, this is how you would find me. Cradling my hot chocolate and blogging and emailing. But mostly looking up fantastic new recipes to try. Particularly desserts. There are not enough days for me to bake all these new exciting desserts I'm finding. I should just open a sweets shop...

There are beautiful leaves all over our lawn. And I noticed on my walk this morning there's snow up top the mountain. It's like the season's changing or something...

Which is in fact true. This weekend is an exciting shift here at the base. We have prayed for and commissioned the students school staff this week, so this weekend they are all boarding planes and climbing into vans to embark on an exciting adventure which is known in YWAM as "outreach". They will spend time in all sorts of countries - Uganda, Kenya, India, Phillipines, Thailand, Malaysia, Turkey, Cambodia, Taiwan...there's so many I can't even remember them all! Here they will serve God doing all sorts of things, like preaching and teaching and playing with children and singing and skits and the like. They are going to impact so many people with Christ's love. So while I will miss everyone at base, I'm not sad because I'm way too excited for them to go rock the nations! They would love to be kept in your prayers, if you think of it.

Meanwhile it will be quieter on base - there will only be about 10 of us here sticking around to brave the cold lol. (down from 65). I'll still be cooking, but of course it takes way less time to cook for 10 ppl. Which means I have plenty of time to play piano and hopefully write more songs, read, paint, run (I decided to start running - I must be crazy what with winter coming and all lol), pray, sit around a fire...

And then in 5 weeks time people start rolling in for the next schools to start. Which is exciting.

Well. I hope you're enjoying the summer. Send some of that sunshine over this way, eh?
