to make you smile

   Saw this today and it made me laugh. I'm the type of person that never bothers to check weather reports as they're so often wrong; I prefer to just wake up and take my day as it comes. Anyway.

Our 14 snowboarder students have all arrived and things are off to a good start. They are so open to having their lives transformed by Him and for Him. There's something really special about snowboarders. They're loud, extreme, and so on fire. They're so open for adventure not just on the slopes but in worship times and all. It's incredible and inspiring.

Just a quick testimony, Day 1 one of the girls who WAS lactose intolerant got prayed for in church, came back to base and downed a big glass of milk to test it, and felt totally fine! I have a feeling that's only the beginning of lots of healing He is doing on this school. It was funny at dinner cuz the cook  made a special cake for her not knowing she'd been healed, but she didn't end up needing it. She asked for ice cream instead! God is so good!

• let us serve Jesus in the distressing disguise of the poor. Let us make sacrifices. Let us allow God to love thru us.
• we give our hands to serve, and our hearts to love. and that is the beginning of holiness.
• put your hand in His and walk alone with Him, walk ahead, because if you look back you will go back.
• leprosy is a very hard disease, true, but it is not as painful as the pain of being shunned by people, of being unwanted, uncared for, just left alone.
• don't criticize, don't praise, don't speak, pray.
• i want to be only all for jesus, truly and not only by name and dress...i would give everything, even life itself for him.
• let them look up and see no longer me but only Jesus.
• if you find it difficult to pray, ask Him again and agaain: Jesus, come into my heart; pray in me and with me that i may learn rom you how to pray.
• before you speak, it is necessary for you to listen, for God speaks in the silence of the heart.
• the value of our actions corresponds exactly to the value of the prayer we make and our actions are fruitful only if they are the true expressions of earnest prayer.
• expect great things from God. attempt great things for God.
• never go to the poor empty handed.

shifting

So I came across this gem in Isaiah last week:

And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship]! -Isaiah 30:18


Now read it once more. Isn't that incredible? He's earnestly waiting for me! For you! I got stuck meditating on that verse last week. 


I love the Word. I'm reading through Matthew right now and I'm being wowed all over again by all the cool stuff Jesus does. Today I was reading about how Jesus crashed a funeral. Such a punk! Love it. Anyway.


There's a shifting here on base atm. In 5 days students start arriving for the snowboarders DTS and Bible Core Course. I love changing seasons. It's a whole new beginning and God does new things. In Isaiah it says "behold I am about to do something new. Do you not see it? Do you not perceive it?" (43:19). Here at base we can definitely feel something in the air. God is going to do something powerful this season.


Especially this morning. We had base worship and it was funny cuz there was miscommunication, so it wasn't really "properly organized" or anything. But sometimes that's the best. There was dancing, hakas, laughing, crying, thanking, singing, lying still....it was just an all around good time.


There's a real shifting going on in people's hearts. People are falling more and more in love with Jesus left and right and wanting to go back to the basics and spend our days not just listening to talks or sermons (which are great and definitely have their time and place) but spending some serious time reading the Word and worshipping Him. It's sooo good for the soul.


Like this week one afternoon 3 lovely sisters and I decided to read through 1 Corinthians. And my friend welcomed Jesus to our apartment and to our Bible study and boy could you feel the presence. I couldn't even read through a whole chapter, I was laughing so hard. And I don't even really know why - 1 Corinthians isn't really that funny. But I think God just knew I could use a super dosage of joy that day. Something about scripture I tell ya. For me alot of the times it bypasses my head and just goes straight to my heart.
